Required Baby Products that we have found necessary in the Grandparents Home are listed in this section. Of course, I ask my daughter and son-in-law to assist me in these selections.
They research each purchase and "tried out" various items that either my daughter or the babies would use. They also used manufacturers coupons and online delivery to purchase specific items.
As you can see, this page is always a work in progress, as we consider more items for the home. Any suggestions for Required Baby Products? If so, please complete the form below.
The first of the Required Baby Products we want to discuss is the following:
The Boppy: This is a pillow that we all wish we had designed. It allows much versatility when trying to position the baby to either rest, feed or just prop up for tummy time. We used the Boppy in the NICU, at home and at our daughters.
This is the Sports covered Boppy that our twin grandson's have used. Oh, yes they have two of these for feeding and propping for tummy time.
Nana is using this one in the NICU just before she holds her grandson for the first time!
Another of the Required Baby Products is the following baby support
Bumpo: This item allows the baby to sit longer with more support. As warned, be careful using this product on elevated spaces.
When baby learns to sit alone, you can support him with the Bumpo designed chair.
This will keep his back straight and keep him from slumping over. This can be used during playtime and bath time.
One of our grandsons was able to use the Bumpo. However, if your grandchild has larger legs, he probably won't be able to sit in it.
Consider purchasing a portable crib for the infant to rest or sleep in while you babysit to ensure safety in a quiet place.
Only issue, our babies outgrew this bed just after one year old.
I listed this product simply because, my daughter has to pump whenever she is at her home, our home or wherever there is an electrical device.
She was fitted at the hospital before the twins were born, with the Simple Wishes Bustier which allows multi-tasking moms the chance to be more productive while they pump, or simply to take a breath and recapture a moment for themselves.
Stylish and functional, and grounded in innovative, thoughtful design, the Bustier is an affordable and quality alternative to the fussy and unflattering hands free alternatives on the market.
We haven't purchased a second one, but when my daughter is here, the bustier is always here too because she is still pumping! Probably one of the best items she purchased for herself!
Snoogle Total Body Pillow: For many people, one pillow is just not enough to sleep through the night.
The Leachco Snoogle Original Total Body Pillow is uniquely designed to follow the natural contour and shape of your body from head to toe, fulfilling the duties of five pillows.
The Snoogle fits behind your neck for support or between your
knees for temperature control. It props up your head to aid in breathing, and if
you are pregnant, it adds tummy support.
The Snoogle is ideal for sleeping, relaxing and even nursing in bed, and it comes complete with a removable and washable cover.
This pillow was necessary for my daughter during her pregnancy and later after her Cesarean birth. She has one of these at her home and at our home too! This pillow also is good for women that have bad backs!
One of my favorite Required Baby Products is a teething toy.
Sophie La Giraffe was an expensive teething toy, but was purchased for our twins to sooth their gums as they both
have gone through teething stages.
As we continue to discuss Required Baby Products, this product is extremely invaluable if your grandchild is visiting for an extended time.
Diaper Genie was chosen as the method of disposal for diapers. This unit was compared in the Youtube Video below. It was selected as the overall best disposal. Please check it out at your stores!
I would suggest if you are keeping your grandchild more than a day each week that you consider purchasing a Diaper Genie.
Of course, you can never have enough extra changes of clothes.
Occasionally, there is an accident and you may need an extra change of clothes before the parents pick up your grandchild. Onesies are always an easy outfit to put on and take off.
I have purchased several cute outfits that the boys have worn from local consignment sales. Most of the sales put restrictions on the clothes, i.e., no rips or stains! Usually there are racks and racks of clothes for you to inspect!
Of course, you can find these also at baby box stores. Carters and Gerber are two great brands to buy!
