It probably wouldn't matter where you were when you first saw your grandchild; i.e., in a hospital room setting, their family home after the baby is released or later in your home for a first visit.
You will never forget this moment!
Really, I was afraid that I was going to have to sit down since my knees got so weak!
Relief that our daughter and her babies were alive and each improving every moment of each day! Love filled our hearts, our souls! Your heart just swells with pride, joy, and emotions; you are so full of happiness!
In fact, I didn't want to eat for a few days....running on adrenaline! Great way to loose weight; besides, the hospital food wasn't that great!
Tears were uncontrollable! As I looked at each child, tears would trickle!
I saw an amazing determination and will to live in each child.
It is impossible to explain, but you will understand when you first hold your grandchild or maybe you remember back when you first saw your grandchild.
I know all of us have different reactions when we each have emotional moments.
Today, I would like to capture your feelings.
I can remember looking at each twin, from the top of their heads (one had darker fuzz than the other), each hand and fingers (so tiny) and each foot and toes! Each had beautiful hands and feet! Oh, I'm so proud of each grandson! So handsome and less than an hour old!
If your grandchild was a normal birth, were you in the delivery room too? That has to be an emotional experience!
With a high-risk Cesarean birth, only Dad was admitted into the Delivery Room. Believe me, I asked to be in the room, but was politely told "no" by Dr. Wells.
I recently met a grandmother that had just experienced the birth of her eleventh grandchild.
She was beaming from ear to ear! She was showing the pictures of her grandson who was just three hours old.
Yes, she had gone to the hospital for his delivery, then returned to work!
She said, "Yes, I'm as excited as if it were my first! I'm a very dotting grandmother!"
So when you first see your Grandchild whether in the NICU, in the hospital room with your child, I know your heart will swell with pride, joy, and emotions; you are so full of happiness! I hope you will want to take pictures and
capture the moments to share later with your child and grandchildren!
